Iceland Family Adventure
We had an amazing adventure over spring break.
Last summer I received a cheap flight notification to Iceland - a bucket list destination that I've been talking about visiting for years. Dramatic scenery, moody weather, hiking, black sand beaches...sign me up. As the inspirational quote in my Dove chocolate foil wrapper says "book the flight" - and so we did (no, not quite that whimsically, as I mentioned, this has been on the list for years).
Iceland is a notoriously expensive country to visit and I love figuring out how to do things more affordably (hence, Iceland in April). So not only did we go in the off season, but we rented a camper truck and spent 3/4 of the trip camping across the country. It was awesome. Yes, we got rained on and it wasn't a warm weather beach trip...but we also hiked on nearly empty trails, lost count of the waterfalls, didn't have to worry about reservations ANYWHERE, and we marched along at our own pace and checkout what we wanted to see when we wanted to see it (well, except for the F roads which are not yet open and the Reykjavik botanical gardens which are not yet blooming :) ). Camping areas in Iceland are really well appointed and we always had toilets and places to wash dishes and at some we even had hot showers and shared kitchens where we met other intrepid travelers.
All in, it was a great trip and I feel so fortunate to have been able to visit this amazing country. Kristy held down the fort at Wild and Free and had a busy few days of play. I am so grateful!
It is hard to believe, but we are almost through April. We are pausing on Community Charcuterie starting in May in favor of Family Pizza Night. Join us on Wednesdays in May for pizza from Nick and Willy's while you play. This is included in admission or your monthly membership! We appreciate pre-registration on our website (https://www.wildandfreeco.com/calendar) but if you just want to drop-in, that is great too. We do have a Wednesday night party on May 17th so there will be no pizza that night.

There is a nature based craft class each week in May - check out the calendar if you are looking for a crafty class for your kiddo during mud season!
How about a break for mom? Donuts with Dad is coming on Saturday, May 13th (the day before Mother's Day...nudge nudge, wink wink...a few hours of quiet might be a nice gift...). Please reserve in advance as there are only 20 spots for this event.
As we go through the month of May, we are going to be making some modifications to the space at Wild and Free. More to come as I am busy planning and mapping out how things will look as we freshen things up a bit.
We have a lot of birthday parties over the next month or so...this Saturday (4/29) we are closed for back to back parties and then we have one each Saturday afternoon in May. Make sure to check our calendar or just google us and the hours will be up to date on our google business page.
I hope you and your families are well and if you are Summit County locals - I hope you were able to re-charge a bit over the break. We are over the hump and the magical months of summer are just around the corner!
Stay Wild and Free,
Michelle
