Welcome to Wild and Free
Who We Are
"And into the forest I go. To lose my mind and find my soul"
- John Muir
Wild and Free provides the opportunity for nature inspired free play to families living in and visiting Summit County. Mountain weather can be unpredictable, and the winters are long and cold. We want to give kids the chance to explore nature and use their imaginations no matter what is happening outside. Being outside is best, but even in the middle of a blizzard, you can still be Wild and Free.
Wild and Free offers various free play areas for kids to let their imaginations run. We feature our own quiet reading forest, an amazing indoor mud kitchen, a magical teepee, imagination inspiring campfire, a real flat bottomed boat, a special small world building area, and a space to create forts and whatever else comes to mind - there is something here for everyone. If you are looking for a place to bring your kids to play and have fun, bring them to Wild and Free!
When the big kids are in pack mode, this space is reserved for infants and crawlers who want to touch, observe, and explore without being trampled by the herd of older children. Our wee ones are innately curious about nature!
There is no holding back these curious kids! Hike in our forest and enjoy poking around the campfire, go fishing, paddle a boat, build, create your own play world - the sky is the limit, be Wild and Free!
Bigger kids can help expand the imaginations of younger children, but sometimes a quiet place to read among the trees or a space full of loose parts where they can be free to explore and create to their heart's content is just what they need.
